In this position the candidate will be responsible for developing and advancing Data Governance Program and security policies as it relates to internal and external applications, business and security processes, and procedures. Candidate will help to develop, implement, and oversee SMC³ Data Governance Program. Candidate will work with all areas of the company to ensure appropriate data classifications, application security, and develop processes and security improvements to promote data stewardship across the organization.
Ideal candidates will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail as well as a broad knowledge of analytical, security, audit principles, and security risk assessment. Able to leverage critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction. This position is responsible for helping to develop and execute a comprehensive data governance strategy aligned with organizational objectives while working with groups within and outside of the company to ensure the data governance framework is operating effectively.
This position will be a hybrid of Peachtree City, GA.
Essential Functions
This role will assist in securing SMC3’s network, applications, and data in accordance with organization security, compliance, and data governance policies.
Work in close collaboration with ESI team and other departments ensuring the necessary information security standards and policies and solutions are in place.
Help develop, implement, and oversee SMC3’s data governance strategy.
Ensure security policies and standards align with data protection mechanisms.
Collaborate with business units, IT teams, and data owners to define data governance roles and responsibilities and foster a culture of data ownership.
Conduct security vendor reviews and respond to customer surveys within the defined timeline.
Help design and maintain a data governance framework, including data classification, data access controls, and data life cycle management.
Help to appoint and train data stewards within the organization to monitor data quality and compliance.
Help to perform business risk impact analysis to ensure data is adequately classified and protected with proper security measures.
Write Data Governance documentation on framework, policies, and procedures.
Generate and present regular reports on data governance performance and compliance to senior management.
Acts as Data Governance consultant and mentor to help elevate the Data Governance Program at SMC³
Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in data governance and proactively recommend improvements to the data governance program.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent education and experience.
3 years + of experience with managing / analyzing data/metrics or data governance.
Ability to identify complex problems, involve key parties, gather pertinent data, and consider various options in the decision-making process.
Skilled at applying problem solving skills in a logical, systematic way to resolve issues.
Knowledge and understanding of information risks concepts and principles as a means of developing and auditing security controls that align with business needs.
Broad foundation of knowledge about Cloud and on-premises security, with topics ranging from architecture, governance, compliance, operations, encryption, virtualization.
High level of knowledge in key areas of information security, industry-leading data governance, data quality, data protection, and/or data management practices.
Comfortable in leading meetings and groups.
Ability to work as a team player.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of products.
Preferred
Five (5) + years of data management experience
Familiarity with data governance and project management frameworks and tools.
