Women In Trucking’s Ellen Voie Earns LTL Certification Distinction

Transportation powerhouse Voie advances her expertise in the complex LTL industry with SMC³ LTL Online Education Certification in Less-than-truckload (CLTL)

ATLANTA January 18, 2023 – SMC³ and Women In Trucking announce that the nonprofit’s president and CEO, Ellen Voie, has earned her certification in LTL (CLTL), as part of SMC³’s Online Education program. This unique online learning program and opportunity to earn certification provide the skills and competencies demanded to thrive in the 21st century LTL industry.

“Despite already having a strong background in trucking and logistics, this program provided even greater insight into shipping and packaging best practices for the LTL industry,” said Voie. “I highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to further their career in the industry.”

Voie is an internationally recognized speaker and authority on gender diversity and inclusion for women working in non-traditional careers in transportation. She founded the Women In Trucking Association 16 years ago to promote the employment of women in the trucking industry, remove obstacles to success, and celebrate the successes of its members. Having experienced the value of SMC³’s LTL online education and certification program firsthand, Voie is offering her association members a discount if they want to pursue a similar path with SMC³.

“The LTL mode of transportation is incredibly complex and growth in recent years has created thousands of new opportunities within the industry,” said Brian Thompson, chief commercial officer at SMC³. “Our LTL online education program is helping to train the next generation of LTL leaders and we’re thrilled that Ellen Voie has added LTL to her vast skillset through our program–and is encouraging other women in transportation to do the same.”

SMC³’s LTL online education program is geared toward shippers, 3PLs, carriers, freight forwarders, and future supply chain leaders looking to master their LTL knowledge and take their careers to the next level. The on-demand learning platform covers a wide swath of LTL concepts: Fundamentals of LTL, LTL operations, freight pricing, U.S. LTL transportation laws and regulations, and LTL business analytics.

Courses are led by seasoned logistics and supply chain management professionals as well as leading university-level instructors. Students can learn at their own pace through the online program and choose whether to become certified in LTL by SMC³ for added professional distinction.
